Ok first thanks for working with me! It's nice to get a first hand perspective on the diversity in the modeling industry from different male aspects, and the things they encounter. Coming from the Empire State where there is nothing you can't do today I'm talking with Cory Malcolm.
LHP: Start by giving your background info on your life such as your birth name, age, and where you are from?
CM: I am a New Yorker at heart born and raised. 22 years old and my birth name is Cory Malcolm
LHP:Let's talk about motivation it takes a lot of courage to be the person in front the cameras and in the spotlight, is there ever any moment where you have any doubt? Or to take this question a bit more in-depth what goes through your mind when on display basically?
CM:So I really pull from my inner ego helps me through a lot of my shoots and being in front of the camera and just having fun. Because at the end of the day its all about art to me. Producing that amazing shot.
LHP:Next Male Model Icon thats a lot as you know from being in this industry yourself it's not as easy for a male to rise to star status, as it is for the female counterparts..So being depicted in this manner what does this mean for you?
CM:It means a lot, just because it started out with 17 of us, and having a title under my belt makes me stand out just a bit more then others. I never really worry about being a counterpart of any other model male or female. If I am booked to work with someone then the job will get done and the ego is left at the door.
LHP: Where is your agency located and describe the type of clientele you encounter, as well specifics on the type of shoots you are dealing with, are you tailored more towards high-end, urban, or commercial.
CM:Right now I am a freelance model, but with winning the next male model icon I became the face of the company as well as one of their newest spokes model. As far as agencies go I am shopping around and really pushing for a commercial department. I really see myself doing well there, urban will always fit my brand but I am always open to change.
LHP:What would you say are some of the things you don't like about being in the modeling industry?
CM:Its not about not liking anything about the model industry, you just have to be willing to be told NO! a million times before you get that perfect yes. Like with anything you must stay consistent and be willing to give 110% like I did and take the title.
LHP: In terms of marketing yourself in the entertainment industry, what business ventures do you want to partake in, and do you want to branch off into other areas?
CM:Well being that I do have the whole “boy next door” thing going on, I am focused on the commercial side of the industry and doing a lot of fit modeling work.
LHP: How would a close friend describe you?
CM:Outgoing, Big ego outspoken… gamer geek animal lover.
LHP:Name some of your strengths?
CM:Just having a great inner circle and knowing how to build a relationship with others and being able to network and take more from it then just a business card. I am always open will and honest about everything I do.
LHP:Name some of your weaknesses?
CM:My eating habits are crazy I just love to eat and I have a really bad video game addiction. Lol but sometimes it keeps me out of trouble.
LHP:Things you can't live without?
CM:My doggy Shadow, there isn’t a day I could live without him and the gym! And hello just making art its in my soul I am happy when am on set.
LHP: What's your five year plan?
CM:To be a better version of myself today and keep moving up up and away.
LHP:Personal style in terms of clothing what are you rocking?
CM:I am very simple jean and tee kind of guy, I wouldn’t say I am fashion driven but I am very aware of whats happening now. I never follow trends, I tend to lean more towards the fit of the clothing then a label.
LHP: Best Place to hangout where you are from?
CM:New York is what you make it, it’s a big sand box of drama laughs and fun. But the best place to hang is with me at home playing video games hahahah. Not many people can say they have.
CM:Shout outs to all the models who were apart of the next male model icon and the Unique definition team really showed us a great time while taping the show. Just get ready for a lot of laughs fun and tears lol….
