I stayed up all night listening to "True" the new EP released by the 26 year old mother,singer-songwriter, actress, model, dancer, and DJ Solange Piaget Knowles. I close my eyes I picture myself in the mid-late 1980's walking through a gritty Times Square with a slight chill in the air, with those old-school limos passing by. You know that whole mid-temp 80's vibe, that's how you feel when you listen to this record and you wanna be transported back in time, to that period and live the life of an 80's pop-artist well at least I do. My favorite track is titled "Bad Girls Verdine Version" the melody of her voice is just so soothing on that track, as you relate to the lyrics of a troubled relationship as she sings "tell me what's wrong, I can't tell you what's wrong",and you think damn how many times have I felt like this with the person I'm with. Summer might be coming to a close but G.O.O.D. MUSIC just turned up the heat. Although Mos Def and Q-TIP are absent from the compilation, this album is a straight up banger he pulled out some VETS like Ghostface Killah on NEW GOD FLOW which is pure fire. You got Common and Raekwon on The Morning, and MASE spit some sick bars on Higher, everybody is really eating R.Kelly and Kanye open the album with To The World it's just too much talent on one album for me. I haven't even started in on the lyrical content yet Pusha T opens new GOD FLOW with the lyrics "I believe there’s a god above me I’m just the god of everything else", which is saying that he believes in GOD but he is the best after him, Ghostface just goes in after he let these rappers know he had his Jesus Piece in 94. The production and beats on here are just ILL you get that hard east coast feel from back in the day that we been missing for awhile now, this ain't no bubble gum rap believe that.

Last Tuesday was my first official industry event, I was extended the invitation via Verve Mgmt which I also work for. Venue 1 is located in a nice business area on the westside of Chicago across from Harpo Studios, the set-up was very nice, very classy. We arrived ahead of time as instructed and walked right-in while I waited for the CEO Ryan to meet us inside.
