Urban Archives September Issue: Legends Of Fall Fashion With Don Benjamin

Ten years ago one of the world's most recognizable supermodels branched out to show that she was more than just a pretty face. Tyra Banks created the first interactive competition reality series that brought the world of high fashion runway models into the living-rooms of the American viewing audience. The show now in its 20th cycle has decided to show us the less-publicized world of male modeling which is where you can catch Don Benjamin. The Chicago born Minneapolis raised super-model in training has been living in Los Angeles the last seven years, taking on small gigs in catalog shoots to help pay the bills before catching his big break on America's Next Top Model. With this being such a groundbreaking moment on the show Benjamin describes it as being a blessing in itself and kind of a surreal moment in his life.   Being in the house are the guys just as catty as women when it comes challenges, trying to steal the thunder etc....... Well we filmed from Febr

"Draco Season" When "Balr" Model/Rapper Dreko Suave Stops By "UrbanInsider"

Social Media is currently at all time high in terms of networking and getting brand recognition, but sometimes we forget that the younger generation has a huge voice when it comes to all the new phrases, fashion, music, and even the way we currently do promo. So when our correspondence in the Florida area hit up Dreko Suave we knew it was the right direction to take our brand. Here our are a few questions we asked the young model with cheekbones and jawline that makes the most confident person feel "Insecure". We wanted the short questionnaire to very adjacent to the current ask me a question theme that everyone is so fond these days, but we also wanted to keep it very simple and relatable to his fanbase, Instagram needs owes us a check for making this job harder, this is what resulted from our Q&A below.... We start by introducing yourself to the readers like what’s your name, age, height, and where you are from.... Dreko, 100, 5’11, Miramar, Florida Br

Urban Insider Knows What Tyler Jacob Did This Summer"Talks Brandy Norwood, Love&HIP-HOP,& MORE.....

Well first of all I wanna say you can sing your ass off so it would great if once this is complete we could some live footage for the site to accompany the interview, and also thank-you for working with me.... Thank you so much! Seriously appreciate that . Who is Tyler, where is Tyler from, and what made you decide to sing... I am a singer/songwriter, born and raised in Camden NJ.   After graduating high school i moved to the Big Apple, NYC! Since I can remember I’ve always loved singing, I just never knew that I could make it a career. Now being raised in an underprivileged city, dreams of becoming a singer are basically a joke. I mean, with that being said my mother always pushed the agenda of being a doctor and that is where my focus lied. It wasn’t until I graduated middle school and I was accidentally placed in a choir class that singing became my life. The teacher at the time Benita Farmer asked if I could stand up and sing I believe I can fly by R Kelly to classify m

Top Model JD Davis Talks Industry Colorism&Wage Inequality With Urban Insider Magazine

I'm to finally be able to say the brand has a niche even more than before, but I currently and hopefully for the future want Urban Insider to of course stay Urban however the focal point more than ever is going to be male beauty. I am a minority and in our industry even though we are represented I still don't think we get to hear the stories of the beautiful faces we see enough, it's like we see them, but do we really hear them, and if we hear them, do we really know them enough to relate to a photo in a magazine. That's what we are doing today with John Edward Davis Jr, who simply goes by the name JD, I had the most amazing conversation with him, I can say that he has so much to talk about, that he is so insightful, and that the principles and morals that he stands by are in some ways a double edge sword but has all the makings to succeed in this industry. His is the first face to join the Urban Insider family as a top male model in this industry to help signify u

LIFE: CHAMPAGNE & CAVIAR

I don't usually share my birthday on public forums, but since almost everything about has become less and less private these days I'd say why not for content's sake. Since undergrad my mind has been so open trying new things, and I recently had a birthday that was monumental don't ask, for it I decided to taste a different type of champagne. While I'm use to "Moet", and I have experienced "Vueve Clicquot", I wanted to up the stakes this year and try "Dom Perignon", with that I decided to also experience some caviar, but not just regular caviar, this caviar was a reflective of my roots since its from "New Orleans". It's actually "Cajun Caviar" straight from the bayou, and it's spicy paired with a 09 bottle of Dom the taste is amazing, I got a small jar because I wanted ease into the experience in case I didn't like it, but that was not at all an issue especially if you are a person who likes things t

AFTER THE HURRICANE (H.I.M.)

In a place I have never felt was home, I found happiness, I found beauty, and I found joy in the form of him. That was until someone decided I was much too happy, and took my whole little world right from under me. I hate when you tell someone your story and they trivialize into whatever the fuck they think compares to it because that shit for me goes into one ear and out the other. My life hasn't been great, but it was never god awful for me either it was just some things I guess I would've changed before they got to the point of no return. Before I met him I was focused, yes I wanted to be with someone of my choice, hell I wanted it for years, but I kept being sent niggas who were just for the moment, and you could tell because it was some attachment to them, but I never saw myself with any of them long-term. I guess I'm going to have to go all the way back to the beginning, before him I have only had the feeling I'm having now once, and that was when I was 18 yea

South Florida Tales:The Boy Interrupted Skxnny OG

Spring is upon us and with the more encompassing direction the magazine is headed in, I think Gary is the perfection addition to our rooster. His story is a little more detailed in the aspect of him being a major key to the nightlife in Miami, he also diversifies as a model currently with "Adidas", in addition to designing his own high-end street wear brand "OGCollection". I've worked with some"Hollywood" people, but I want to keep the brand balanced with a kind of upscale urban flare hence the cover photo. As you will read during the interview Gary has had his pieces worn by some very well-known faces in the industry ranging from''The Game" to ''Bryson Tiller". With his dope entertainment brand to his swag Skxnny OG exemplifies the type of image that "UrbanInsider" is committed to displaying. The 24 year old socialite who made his brand known coast to coast is originally from a small city called Aschaffenburg,
