The soundtrack became the best-selling soundtrack of all time, selling more than 42 million copies worldwide. It featured several of Houston's most well-known and fondly remembered songs, including "I Will Always Love You," "I'm Every Woman" and "Queen of the Night."Two of the late singer's songs from the soundtrack, "I Have Nothing" and "Run to You," were nominated for Oscars.
Although the theatrical showing is timed to the film's 20th anniversary, the recent death of the iconic singer on Feb. 11 is sure to prompt many fans to head to theaters to see Houston on the big screen. Houston died at the Beverly Hilton at age 48.At the singer's funeral, Costner spoke fondly of working with Houston on The Bodyguard. "A lot of leading men could’ve played my part," he said. "But you, Whitney, I truly believe you were the only one who could’ve played Rachel Marron at that time. You weren’t just pretty, you were as beautiful as a woman could be. And people didn’t just like you, Whitney, they loved you.”
