Range was previously signed to Roc Nation, and has worked with some of today's top artist from Beyonce,Brandy,Wale&Ja Rule to name a few. He dropped his intense single Bitter on Valentine's Day along with the visuals which shows him walking through NYC with Times Square as the back drop. PA:I want to say thanks a lot for working with me
So how have things been going with you......
Range and Beyonce recorded a song together titled "Waiting" which they both sound amazing on. I asked Range
what it was like working with her?
Range: To sum that experience I can only use one word "Awesome"!!
Now are you originally from New York and if so what part?
Range:I'm from Connecticut! I left home n moved to NYC for music in 05. I had a ford taurus, my computer and a mic.
PA:For those who aren't familiar let's have your full name.....and how did you come up with Range?
Range:My name is Chuck Adams, my dad nicknamed me Range to encourage me to think and be without limits.
PA:We were first introduced to you by Roc Nation, what was it like working with the label, and if I may ask what caused the decision for you all to part ways?
Range:It was a great experience. I learned a massive amount about the business and through Stargate I learned lots about making great pop n Rnb music. The split came because it was time for a split. There's no bad blood, I still talk to ty ty and other staff at the label. They've given me a platform that allows me to put music out to a fan base who may of never known me without roc nations intial push.
PA:At what age would you say I decided I want to be a singer, this is the career for me?
Range:I knew this was my life at 18.
PA:Who are your biggest musical influences past or present?
Range:R Kelly, Michael jackson to start. Dr Dre n that whole snoop era. Diddy and the Big times. Grunge music with nirvana and pearl jam. Aerosmith, whitney, mariah Carey and the 90's pop era was huge for me. Dru hill, wutang..and the list goes on. I'm influenced by all things good music.
Prince Ali:By now everyone should have heard your newest track Bitter, you sing it with such intensity which makes the public really feel the emotion of the track, was that inspired by real life events?
Range:Thanks, and yes it was..at the time when I wrote it, a relationship ended and my situation came to abrupt end with roc nation. I was basically an emotional wreck. Only thing I knew to do was to make music, so that's what I did. It started with the drums, I remember I started the track at like 4am. When it was done, I put it on my iPhone, went to JFK airport and walked around writing the song on my phone.
PA:What's next for Range when can we expect to hear more great music from you?
Range:you can expect to hear a new single every couple months. I'm continuing to perform and watching my fan base grow. The next single will drop in may!
PA:In terms of personal style, how would you describe yours, and the designers you are currently rocking.....
Range: I consider myself a minimalist, i like a Tshirt, sneakers. Maybe some boots n some dope skinny jeans. Fav designers right now are these guys "Johnny love" out of sweden.
PA:Who all have you done collabos with, and who would you like to get in the studio with?
Range:My first collabo was with ja rule back in the day lol..song called "wait until tonight." then as far as my songs I've linked with Rick Ross on my song "ghetto dance", Wale on my song "beautiful you are" and I wrote and sang a hook on Tinie Tempahs last album on a song called "just a little". I did a duet with Brandy for my roc nation project which was def an experience. I'd like to get in the studio with Kanye one day.
PA:Are you interested in any other aspects of the entertainment industry if so please elaborate.....
Range:I'm a business man so the business side of things and what I Do is something lots of people don't know about. I currently have a label called "American money machine" (AMM), and all my material since last year has been released under this brand. I have a couple artist, writers and producers signed to the label. So the next step as the brand is to take over one song at a time.
PA:Name 5 things you can't live without.....
Range:My iPhone, simply lemonade, zebra cakes, wifi, and a microphone.
PA:Favorite Places to hangout.....
Range:My car, I like to ride around, clear my head and write.
