Let the festivities begin it is officially spring and all of the biggest functions will be going on this month and through the summer. However I don't think any of them can top the 20th Life Ball in Vienna which is the biggest charity function in all of Europe. The Glitzy function is organized by AIDS LIFE, an independent non-profit organization, it's objective is to raise money to support people in areas of the world most affected by HIV and AIDS. Half of the raised funds go to national relief projects and half go to international organizations in support of HIV/AIDS treatment, research and prevention.

"VOGUE Italia hosts the 20th Anniversary Life Ball Fashion Show presented by MINI! Patron of the 20th Life Ball fashion show is none other than the most influential woman in fashion business: Franca Sozzani. Editor-in-Chief of the Italian VOGUE since 1988, she created a unique visual language for the magazine – thus making it the fashion bible par excellence.

The cooperation with the Italian VOGUE was enabled by MINI, one of the most important Life Ball partners. There will also be a reunion of designer MINIs of the past years. This year’s anniversary MINI will be personally designed by Franca Sozzani. The owner of the Diesel empire, Renzo Rosso, as well as various designers such as Roberto Cavalli, Angela Missoni, Philip Treacy or Rosella Jardini, the closest companion of Franco Moschino, who died of AIDS are expected in Vienna. Travor Rains and Richie Rich will re-unite as Heatherette – for the Life Ball night only; Stefano Citron and Federico Piaggi, from Ferré fashion house, will come to Vienna in honor of Gianfranco Ferré, who died three years after participating in Life Ball. Also, Life Ball true Vivienne Westwood considers to join the anniversary Life Ball, as well as her son and Agent Provocateur inventor Joseph Corré. International top models such as Alek Wek, Tatjana Patitz, Karolina Kurkova, Eva Padberg, Lydia Hearst, Diana Gärtner, Paulina Porizkova, Aimee Mullins, Tereza Maxova, Kiera Chaplin, Adriana Karembeu, Eva Riccobono or Shaun Ross are going to present the most spectacular Life Ball outfits besides prominent personalities."

"On the eve of the Life Ball the "Wiener Burgtheater" will, for the first time ever, present an exclusive gala concert featuring international opera stars, legendary singers, doyens of the "Burgtheater" as well as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Net profits will go to the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and President Bill Clinton will attend the concert to represent his organization. Apart from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Louis Langrée and accompanied on the piano by Malcolm Martineau, classical artists Patricia Petibon, Bernarda Fink, Michael Schade and Florian Boesch, as well as soul and jazz legends Randy Crawford and Al Jarreau will perform for the cause. Actors Melanie Griffith, Sunnyi Melles and Gert Voss will read between the music performances, while human rights activist and author Maya Angelou will recite her own personal poem."
