The need to return to my southern origins helped me link up with DjMemphis10, The following is what resulted from our conversation............
Q:What is the best thing about growing up in Memphis.....
A:The best thing about growing up in Memphis is the food and music.
Q:Now I was reading your bio, are you an artist or do you only DJ clear that up for me.....
A:I use to DJ back in 2009, I fell into djing when I was dating a young lady at the time and her mother needed a DJ for her bar. Since then I have been getting gigs between Seattle and Memphis, rapping was always my passion so I kept the DJ name but I drop the turn tables.
Q:What has changed most in your life since writing your bio in 2013........
A:A lot has changed since 2013, I went to prison for 2 years on an assault charge and that made me grow mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Q:I have to ask you this question, since we grew up in the same era, do you feel the current state of hip-hop has changed for the better or for worse, and what is your opinion on these "mumble rappers"......
A:I mean music is music, I think rap is constantly growing, but we have to keep the creativity going. I say that to say don't get lazy with the craft.
Q:Now in your bio you list some of your musical influences as MJ, Stevie Wonder, 36 etc...... My question to you though is why are you so influenced by these specific artists, and how do you incorporate those influences into your music.....
A:I listened to a lot of old school with my uncle growing up, and I feel like that has a lot of influence on my music. The topics of love, pain, happiness, betrayal, family, and success I talk about it all which is rooted in that.
Q:What does music mean to you and if you weren't doing music what else could you really see yourself doing.......
A:Music is almost everything to me, it keeps me going and happy. Honestly if I wasn't doing music I'd probably be selling dope or working some lame job and complaining everyday.
Q:Tell the readers about the "Sauce God" and how that brand developed, does that mean you have a serious interest in the fashion industry....
A:I love fashion, "Sauce God" came about when my cousin called my phone and said ''what's up Sauce God'' ,and I was like ''what'' he said that should be my other name ,and I was like ''nah lol'' . When I got off the phone with him it was stuck in my head, at the time my partna was making a logo for "DJMemphis10", I told him to try to do something with Sauce god. Two days later he came back with the logo that's all she wrote.
Q:Aside from the artist we discussed above, when you are just riding around M-town who are you listening to......
A:Not gon lie I listen to Young Dolph, Yo Gotti, Money Bagg Yo, Playa Fly, and Me
Q:The Southern Heritage Classics are coming up, who are you rooting for and please say the right team....lol
A:Tennessee mane lol, (wrong team but I'ma let him make it with this one)
Q:Have you ever met K.Michelle....
A:Haven't met her, but I would love too
Q:If there was a Love&Hip-Hop Memphis would you do it, why or why not......
A:It depends on if its good for my image
Q:Since this month is the beginning of Fashion Week, describe your personal style.....
