National Puerto Rican Day Parade 2011

If you are in NY today then this is the place to be crowdsin excess of two million are expected to line Fifth Avenue on Sunday, June 12th for the 2011 Puerto Rican Day Parade.The parade will start at 11 am at Fifth Avenue and 44th Street and proceed uptown along Fifth Avenue to 79th Street (that's 7 blocks short of the usual final destination).The 2011 Puerto Rican Day Parade celebrates the natural beauty of Puerto Rico and promotes the preservation of natural resources and the environment. Honorees will include actor John Leguizamo, folk singer Antonio Cabán Vale "El Topo," Baseball Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar, and more.

Last year Puerto Rican Day Parade king Marc Anthony and la muy Bonita Jennifer Lopez shared a Sunday up Fifth Ave. Anthony and a stunning J.Lo slipped smoothly into theirchariot, with the pair blowing kisses at frenzied revelers draped in the red, white and blue of Puerto Rico's flag.

Anthony - who was named "king" of the 53rd annual parade - said the day was "fantastic" for the Puerto Rican power couple."It's such a big part of my life and it always has been," said Anthony, the New York-born son of Puerto Rican parents, who sported a dark, pinstriped suit and dark sunglasses.A Hot 97 float packed with hip-hop stars, including Sean (Diddy) Combs and Busta Rhymes, also energized the crowds. Combs stumbled onto all fours at one point while waving a giant Puerto Rican flag. But he got right back up - and aides grabbed fistfuls of the rap mogul's clothes to keep him from falling again.
