Despite conflicting reports from earlier this year Congresswoman Giffords is very much alive after surviving a shooting rampage in January, Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords sat down with her husband Mark Kelly for an interview with Diane Sawyer on '20/20' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC). While she's made remarkable progress, and looked happy and confident, it was clear that Giffords still has a long way to go.
While her mind clearly knows how she'd have liked to respond to Sawyer's questions, often those responses came in short phrases or repeated words. The word she attributed to her husband Mark, who's been by her side every day, was "brave." He, however, turned the word right back around, attributing it to her.
It was an inspirational view of a woman determined to get better, who continues to progress and get better. She wants to be better, though, before returning to Washington, but she's determined to get there, and based on this appearance, we believe she will.
