Is America ready for androgynous Men's fashion??? Better yet is HIP-HOP ready for it??? I don't judge I'm an adamant believer in the to each his own phrase, but that doesn't stop other guys in urban America from voicing their opinions in a very harsh and negative way. I like things that are different when I shop, even when I post things on this site I want people to take something from me away from it. Kanye rocked a wool bomber rottweiler print jacket, custom t-shirt, a leather kilt, leather pants, and his Air Yeezy 2 sneakers.
Apparently, men wearing kilts, skinny jeans, and meggings are in. I mean I know men wearing skinny jeans are in because I've seen petite men wearing them all over the place and I even own a couple pair but kilts and meggings, Kilts have been getting bashed hard but a lot the other media websites as well as the skinny jeans. Our society is heavily influenced from the Hip-Hop community in the things that we wear because they are popular and who doesn't want to be popular.
Now kilts are a scottish tradition and that's fine but what about passing it as a fashion trend in the US? Hmm and although Marc Jacobs is one of the designers who debuted kilts on the runway, it takes an extremely bold and confident gent to feel comfortable wearing one of these. This trend will take some time getting use to for the urban community in America...
On to meggings which are leggings for men. This trend has taken Tokyo, Paris, London, and now NY by storm. Grown men are wearing meggings not just to keep warm but as fashion statements. Some wear them under shorts while others are wearing them as an alternate to jeans, trousers what have you. I'm not rushing out to buy one, but it is interesting to speculate where this trend in men's fashion will end up in the future or is it just a passing fad?
